Argentina’s cement demand increased 7.5 per cent YoY to 1,047,194t in March 2022 when compared with March 2021, when consumption reached 974,347t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. When compared with the previous month, demand increased by 11.6 per cent. Cement sales in Brazil remained stable at 5.5Mt in March 2022 when compared with March 2021, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. When compared with February 2022, sales increased 14.6 per cent. "Sales in January this year were 8.2 per cent below January of last year. With the rains, it was not possible to distribute anything. Cement deliveries in Switzerland increased 10.2 per cent to 950,556t in the first quarter of 2022 when compared with 862,210t in the 1Q21, according to the Swiss cement association, cemsuisse. In January 2022 Senegal’s cement market expanded 8.9 per cent when compared with December 2021 and 6.2 per cent when compared with January 2021, says the country’s National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD). Export sales declined 31.7 per cent MoM and 18.1 per cent YoY in January 2022.

US Portland and blended cement market expands in January

Portland and blended cement shipments in the USA and Puerto Rico, including imports, edged up to 6.6Mt in January 2022, according to the US Geological Survey USGS). According to the data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), Pakistan cement total dispatches (local and overseas) declined by 6.3 per cent in March 2022 to 5.04Mt against 5.37Mt in the same month of last fiscal year.
