Sunchon raises output

The Sunchon Cement Complex in North Korea has increased cement output to serve rural construction, according to Korean News. The cement plant is reported to produced tens of thousands tonnes of cement in a short period. The production at the steel foundry and the refractory materials plant was increased to provide the cement complex with sufficient materials and parts to overhaul the factory’s equipment.

Indonesia's annual domestic cement demand reached 65.215Mt in 2021, representing an increase of 4.3 per cent on the year before, in line with industry expectations.   All of the domestic regions recorded higher demand in 2021. Cement sales in Brazil edged up 1.2 per cent YoY to 4.726Mt in February 2022 from 4.672Mt in February 2021, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Moroccan deliveries advance 3% in February

Cement deliveries in Morocco increased 2.9 per cent YoY to 1,111,349t in February 2022 from 1,079,983 according to data published by the Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation. The data include the dispatches of members of the cement producers’ association, APC (Asment Temara, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc). In the first two months of 2022, dispatches advanced 5.8 per cent to 2,239,901t, up from 2,166,989t in the 2M21.

Madagascar imports cement to reduce price

The State Procurement of Madagascar (SPM) has imported cement at a reduced price to normalise the price of cement in the market and support the population after the passage of cyclones, reports L’Express. A 50kg bag of cement, imported by Lucky Cement via the Toamasina depot, now costs MGA25,500 (US$6.35), down from MGA26,500 previously.

US and Puerto Rican cement market expands 5% in December 2021

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement shipments in the USA and Puerto Rico saw a 5.4 per cent uplift in December 2021 when compared with December 2020, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Cement consumption in Argentina increased 15.6 per cent YoY to 938,327t in February 2022 when compared with 811,697t in the second month of the previous year, according to AFCP, the national cement association.
