Peruvian cement market expands 5% in February

Cement dispatches in Peru reached 1.088Mt in February 2022, up five per cent when compared with February 2021, according to the Peruvian cement association, Asocem. The total includes shipments by Asocem members (1.018Mt) and non-affiliated cement producers, which accounted for around 70,000t. Building material prices continue to rise in Germany

Cement prices in Germany rose by 4.9 per cent YoY in February, according to the recently-published producer price index by the German statistics office, Statistisches Bundesamt.   The rise was more modest than in other building materials due to the highly competitive industry environment in Germany, according to industry analysts at CIC Market Solutions (France). The price of cement  in central Democratic Republic of Congo has increased from COF15,500 (US$7.70) to COF21,210 from 17 March, according to local news sources. Spanish cement demand expands 14% in February

Cement consumption in Spain increased 14 per cent YoY to 1,269,455t, representing the best sales in February in the last five years, according to Oficemen, the Spanish cement association. “The cement industry is experiencing an energy emergency situation. Puerto Rican cement sales decline 13% in February

In February 2022 cement sales in Puerto Rico declined 13.3 per cent YoY to 1.18m bags of 94lb, or 50,312t, according to Puerto Rico’s Institute of Statistics. However, cement output increased 4.1 per cent YoY to 26,478t. Production had been falling for eight of the last 10 months, reports Sin Comillas.

Iran's cement market expands 5% MoM in February

Iranian cement consumption reached 4.43Mt in February 2022, supplied entirely by the domestic industry, according to the Iranian Cement Association. This represents a 5.2 per cent increase when compared with January 2022. While cement production stood at 4.43Mt (+5.2 per cent MoM), clinker output reached 4.83Mt (-7.6 per cent MoM). The country exported 1.084Mt of clinker and 0.326Mt of cement in February 2022, representing MoM increases of 33.8 and 35.8 per cent, respectively.

Tudela Veguín halts production for 10 days

Cementos Tudela Veguín has shut down its plant at La Robla for 10 days from Friday, 11 March, citing the soaring electricity prices as the reason for the stoppage. The company has significant stocks of cement and expects to continue normal deliveries to its customers. Punjab to establish new cement plant

A meeting of India’s Cabinet Committee on Legislative Business chaired by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Muhammad Basharat Raja, has approved setting up of a new cement plant in Punjab, India. Permission for enhancement of production capacity of two existing cement plants was also approved during the meeting, reports The new International. No further details were revealed.
