Spanish cement consumption grew by 8.8 per cent in April to 1,346,704t, according Oficemen (Spanish Cement Association). This figure represents the recovery of 108,632t compared to the same month last year. Cement consumption in Iran reached 4Mt in April 2022, according to the Iranian cement association. The country produced 6.99Mt of clinker, of which it exported 0.79Mt. Cement production stood at 4.56Mt, which was mostly destined for domestic markets although 0.42Mt was exported.

New cement and clinker plants for Burundi

Burundi company Intracom is finalising the process to set up clinker and cement plants in Kigoma, according to the Daily News. The cement plant will have a capacity of 0.6Mta while the clinker plant will have a 1Mta capacity. Cement sales in Brazil slipped 2.8 per cent in April 2022 to 5.138Mt from 5.288Mt in April 2021, according to the national cement association, SNIC. Moroccan cement deliveries by Asment Temara ( Votorantim Cimentos ), Ciments de l'Atlas ( Addoha Group ), Ciments du Maroc ( HeidelbergCement Group ) and LafargeHolcim Maroc ( Holcim ) contracted by 22.8 per cent to 902,513t in April 2022 when compared with 1,169,122t in April 2021, according to Morocco’s cement association, APC. Grey cement dispatches in Colombia increased 5.7 per cent to 1.257Mt in March 2022 from 1.189Mt in March 2021, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE.
