Vietnam’s cement sales stood at 1.1Mt in the first half of this month, rising 45% from the same period of July, the Price Management Department under the Finance Ministry said. Anjani Portland Cement Ltd will invest approximately INR300 crore in a greenfield cement plant in Bijapur district of Karnataka. It will have a capacity of around a 1Mta. Vietnam: slow construction industry weighs on materials sales

Lipetskcement record monthly output, Russia

Russian cement producer, Lipetskcement, produced 188,000t of cement in July 2011 – the highest monthly output in its 50 year history. For the first seven months of 2011, the company produced 716,000t of cement, and increase of 43,000t on the same period of last year.

Holcim (Lanka) Ltd will invest LKR3.6bn (US$32.8m)  in the next three years to strengthen its domestic operations. Azerbaijan has reported sales of 759,700t of cement in the first seven months of 2011, up 6.8 per cent YoY.   Last year, total cement production reached 1.278Mt, 0.6% less than 1.28Mt produced in 2009, which in turn represented a drop by 19.7% in comparison with 2008.
