Italy's production index gains 11% in 11M21

Cement production in Italy increased by eight per cent in October 2021 but slipped six per cent in November when compared with the base year of 2015, according to Federbeton, Italy’s concrete association. Puerto Rico sees 8-year high in cement sales

Puerto Rican cement sales in 2021 reached 15.6m bags, or 679,300t - a high not seen in eight years, according to the country’s Statistics Institute. This represents a 12.5 per cent YoY advance. Total sales were up by 31.7 per cent from 12.4m bags to 16.3m bags. However, output from the country’s cement plants fell 29.5 percent to 7.4m bags. Production has been on the decline in the last three years, reports business newspaper Sin Comillas.

Mexico's cement market sees cement prices surge

The price of grey cement in Mexico increased on average 14.5 per cent per 50kg bag and 20 per cent per tonne of bulk cement in January 2022 when compared with December 2021, according to industry sources and material distributors, reports El Norte. Belarusian cement plants quadruple peat consumption in 2015-21

Belarusian cement plants increased the consumption of peat fuel by 4.36 times to 362,000t between 2015-21, according to Valery Kovalyov, vice CEO of Beltopgaz. “Peat fuel consumption by cement plants increased from 83,000t in 2015 to 362,000t in 2021,” Mr Kovalyov said in an interview with Beltopgaz’ corporate journal. Cement plants account for 44 per cent of total peat fuel sales and have been actively substituting imported natural gas with locally-available peat products.

Vietnam cement sales slip in 2021 but exports surge

Cement sales in Vietnam edged up by two per cent to 6,135,769t in December 2021, according to the Vietnamese cement association, VNCA. When compared with November 2021, the increase was 10 per cent. Ciments du Maroc builds new grinding station at Nador

Ciments du Maroc , a subsidiary of HeidelbergCement (Germany), is building a new grinding station close to Nador in the north of Morocco that will support the development of the country's north and east regions. Located 18km from the city of Nador in the municipality of Ouled Settout, the 0.7Mta grinding plant represents an investment of MAD330m (USD35.54m).
