Iran's annual cement consumption falls by 5.4 per cent in FY2021

Annual cement consumption in Iran reached 59.87Mt in FY2021, reflecting a YoY contraction of 5.4 per cent, according to the Iran Cement Association.   Consumption in December 2021 was reported at 5.03Mt, marginally ahead on a YoY basis by 0.6 per cent.   Domestic clinker and cement production volumes reached 5.67Mt and 5.38Mt in December, respectively. Meanwhile, the country's clinker and cement export volumes were recorded at 0.99Mt and 0.415Mt, respectively.

Peru’s cement market expanded by 4.7 per cent YoY in December 2021 to 1.275Mt when compared with the previous year’s December month, when consumption reached 1.218Mt, according to the country’s cement association Asocem. Preparations start for new plant in the Kyrgyz Republic

A total of 10ha of land have been transformed in the village of Tunuk-Suu, in the Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic to build a cement plant, reports Central Asia News. Currently part of a 60km-long road is being repaired. Part of the plot belongs to the local administration with the remainder leased by investors. Brazilian cement sales totalled 4.8Mt in 2021, representing a 1.6 per cent increase YoY, according to SNIC, the national cement association. Argentina’s cement marked expanded five per cent to 1,025,371t in December 2021 when compared with 976,945t in December 2020, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. However, when compared with the previous month, dispatches were down 10.2 per cent. Cement deliveries in the October-December 2021quarter in Switzerland (including Liechtenstein) reached 1,037,394t, up 3.4 per cent when compared with the 4Q20, when 1,002,614t,were supplied to the market, according to cemsuisse, the Swiss cement association. The HNL10 (US$0.41) increase in the price of cement in Honduras, effective from 1 January 2022, has been cancelled following an agreement between private firms committee, Cohep, construction companies, cement firms and the Honduran government. ANDI, CHICO, Cementos del Norte, Cementos Wang Peng and Ultracem agreed to maintain the price of cement to its pre-2022 level.
