Taiwan’s largest cement maker plans to build a large solar power plant, the company and local media said on Monday, confirming a trend for the island’s companies to focus increasingly on green technologies. Cementos SA Yguazú to build terminal, Pamana

Cementos SA Yguazú will build a private port terminal on the right bank of the Paraguay River, district of Villa Hayes, Presidente Hayes department. The approval was carried out by Decree 5218, signed by the president, Fernando Lugo, said the president of the republic.

Vietnam exported 300,000t of cement and clinker in the first nine months this year, as part of cement joint-ventures’ investment plans. The Vietnam Industry of Cement Corporation (VICEM) and joint-ventures under corporation are finding new market to increase their products for exports while trying to restrain cement import from now to the end of year. According to VICEM, the volume of clinker imported saw a significant decline in September at only 50,000t.

Shree Cement to expand capacity by 7Mta, India

Shree Cement will reportedly expand its cement production capacity by 7Mt in the next five years. Company would raise the funds through internal accruals and debt. Bangur said the company was in the process of setting up a greenfield cement plant in Karnataka. The company would invest Rs15bn to set up a cement plant, with an annual capacity of 3mn tons and the remaining Rs5bn on operationalising a 100MW power plant, adds the report.

Swiss cement deliveries up 5.8% in third quarter??

Cement demand continues to rise in Switzerland. In the third quarter of 2010, shipments rose 5.8% over the same period last year. In the first nine months of the year, the increase is 6.3%.

 A total of 1.29Mt have been delivered in the 3Q. During the first nine months 2010, the amount of cement delivered was 3,.45Mt, said the Association of Swiss cement industry (cemsuisse) Thursday.
