Czech Republic sees domestic sales up 4% in 2020

The Czech Republic’s cement output declined 1.2 per cent YoY to 4.51Mt in 2020, which was still the second-highest level since 2008, according to preliminary data. Overall domestic sales expanded by 4.2 per cent to 4Mt. Cement exports declined 26 per cent to 562,720t, with the most important markets being Slovakia (almost 50 per cent), Poland (about 25 per cent), Germany (18 per cent) and Austria (10 per cent), according to the Czech News Agency.

Brazil's cement market expansion decelerates in July

Cement sales in Brazil remained almost level in July 2021 at 5.9Mt, representing a 0.1 per cent YoY increase from 5.897Mt in July 2020, according to SNIC, the industry’s professional body. Chile’s cement market expands 67% YoY in June 2021

Chilean cement consumption advanced 66.7 per cent YoY in June 2021 to 355,851t when compared with the 233,186t reported in June 2020 and by 21.9 per cent when compared with June 2019, according to the Chilean Construction Chamber, CChC. In the January-June 2021 period, dispatches were up 20.5 per cent YoY to 2,145,846t from 1,781,388t in the 1H20. When compared with the first six months of 2019, when dispatches reached 2,065,205t there was a 3.9 advance.

India's government urged to reopen cement works

India’s Union government has been urged by a Telangana state minister to revive Adilabad's Cement Corp of India (CCI) plant in the state. In a letter to Heavy Industries Minister, Mahendra Nath Pandey, a request was made for the reopening of the plant which has remained closed since 1996. Argentina’s cement consumption increased 20.9 per cent YoY and 8.5 per cent MoM to 1,043,388Mt in July 2021 from 862,675t in July 2020 and from 961,512t in June 2021, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Bolivian cement demand advanced 125 per cent to 295,026t in May 2021 when compared with the low base of 131,101t in May 2020, according to Bolivia’s statistics office, INE. Malaysia's cement sector is expected to see further cement price hikes, according to AmBank Research.
