Salvadoran cement prices up 4% in August

Cement prices in El Salvador have increased four per cent YoY to US$7.87/42.5kg bag in August 2021 from US$7.57/bag, delivered ex-works. Retail prices rose by 3.6 per cent YoY to US$8.68/bag from US$8.38/bag over the same period.

Bolivia’s cement market sees 26% expansion in June

Cement consumption in Bolivia increased 25.6 per cent YoY to 289,440t in June 2021 from 230,378t in June 2020, according to data from the country’s statistics office, INE. However, when compared with June 2019, when demand reached 330,612t, a 30.3 per cent contraction was reported. Domestic cement production increased 25.5 per cent YoY to 299,517t in June 2021 from 238,640t in June 2020. However, when compared with an output of 339,171t in June 2019, a 29.6 per cent contraction was reported.

Yousheng Cement reportedly plans Cameroon project

China’s Yousheng Cement is reportedly planning to build a cement plant inside the port of Douala, Cameroon, according to Business in Cameroon. While the capacity was not disclosed, public sittings related to the project’s environmental impact assessment have been planned.

Pakistan cement production rises 27% in 12MFY21

The overall output of the Large-Scale Manufacturing Industries Index (LSMI) in Pakistan increased by 14.9 per cent for July 2020-June 2021 compared to July 2019-June 2020, including local cement production, FBS estimated. Cement sales in Vietnam in July 2021 declined eight per cent YoY to 4,964,884t and by 19 per cent from 6,095,139t in June 2021, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). At an all-India level, cement prices fell four per cent MoM basis from INR369 (US$4.98)/50kg bag in July to INR356/bag in August, according to Kotak Institutional Equities. Iraq to see new US$250m cement project

Iraq has reportedly awarded a project to a Spanish company to construct a cement plant at a cost of around US$250m.   Iraqi Industry Minister, Manhal Al-Khabbaz, said the plant in the Nineveh Governorate, northern Iraq, would have an initial capacity of 4000-4500tpd, but could be expanded further at a later date, according to Zawya.   The project is expected to complete with the next 2.5 years and produce new types of cement that are not currently available in the country.   "This is a sign...

Cement consumption in Kenya advanced 26.6 per cent YoY to 3.35Mt in the January-May 2021 period when compared with 2.64Mt in the 5M20, according to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics. The increase was supported by ongoing infrastructure projects such as the Nairobi Expressway and higher activity in the real estate market.
