Puerto Rico sees first fall in sales since April 2020

In June 2021, 1.3m bags, or 55,429t of cement were sold in Puerto Rico, according to the Banco de Desarrollo Económico.  This represents a YoY decline of 18.8 per cent from 68,220t, the first drop in sales since April last year. FY21 ended with a 31.7 per cent advance in sales from 12.4m bags, or 528,707t, to 16.3m bags, or 694,994.51m. The growth in sales is the highest in 12 years, according to Sin Comillas.

US Portland and blended cement market expands 6% in May

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced 5.6 per cent to 9.2Mt in May 2021 when compared with May 2020, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Senegal demand surges but exports fall in April

The Senegalese cement market expanded by 158.7 per cent in April 2021, according to the Agence Nationale de la Statistique et de la Demographie. However, domestic output declined by 9.9 per cent while export sales slipped by 3.5 per cent YoY in April 2021.

The Iranian cement market consumed 5.78Mt of cement in June 2021, remaining level with the 5.78Mt reported in May. This demand was entirely met by local cement production, which reached 6.02Mt in June while clinker production stood at 6.75Mt. Portland and blended cement shipments, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico, saw a 19 per cent YoY increase to 9.7Mt in April 2021, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Peru’s cement market expanded by 66 per cent YoY to 1.085Mt in June 2021, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem.
