Vietnam: MOC reconsiders cement industry development plan

The Ministry of Construction (MOC) is drawing up a plan to re-develop the cement industry by 2015-2025, after warnings about the industry overheating and overproducing cement. Indonesia July consumption rises 6.6%

Indonesia’s cement consumption rose 6.6 percent in July from a year ago, industry data showed on Wednesday. Total cement consumption in July rose to 3,740,047t, taking total consumption in the first seven months to 10.7 percent above the same period last year, according to data from the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI).

Lafarge Romania sales down by one-fifth

Cement producer Lafarge Romania had sales down by a fifth in the first half of 2010. The company expects the Romanian cement market to shrink 10% in 2010. Lafarge’s cement sales in Central and E Europe fell 15% to 5.5Mt.

Philippine cement sales seen growing faster

Aditya Birla production and sales update

The Aditya Birla Group’s cement production for the period April to July 2010 has moved up by 4.99% at 12.858Mt as against 12.246Mt during April to July 2009.

 Dispatches rose by 4.96% at 12.805Mt in April to July 2010 vis a vis 12.2Mt in the corresponding period last year.

Cement production for the month of July 2010 is higher by 4.75% at 2.886Mt and dispatches at 2.916Mt by 7.94% over July 2009.

Strabag to construct cement plant in Bulgaria

A consortium, led by Austrian construction company Strabag was picked to build a EUR160m cement factory in Devnya, near Bulgaria’s Black Sea cost, Strabag said on Wednesday.
