Thang Long Investment and Trade JSC plans to put into operation Thanh Son cement plant in the northern central province of Thanh Hoa in the third quarter of 2011. Australia construction shrinks at fastest pace in 12 months

Australia’s building industry shrank in July at the fastest pace in a year, adding to evidence the central bank’s six interest rate increases between October and May are eroding demand for new dwellings. British Blackstone plans to invest in Turkish factory

The British company Black Stone will invest US$200m in a cement factory in the Vezirkopru district of Samsun on the Black Sea coast. Some 344000m2 of land is already allocated for the US$200m factory. Construction of the factory will begin by the end of 2010, according to company officials. Source: Invest in Turkey

Iran cement production up 16% in 1H

During the first four months of the Iranian calendar year (started March 21) cement factories in Iran produced nearly 2Mt which is 16 per cent more than the same period the year before. IRNA news agency stated that in the month of Tir (June 22-July 21) plants produced 5.2Mt of cement showing about 12 per cent rise compared to last year. 

During this period 19Mt of clinker was produced in the country that is 17 per cent more than the previous time span.

Pakistan cement exports decline

Pakistan cement exports registered a decline of 0.89 per cent during the last fiscal year 2009/10, while  local sales grew by 14.63 per cent, according to the data released on Wednesday.

 The industry recorded 9.30 per cent growth during the financial year ended in June. Qatar National Cement Company (QNCC) yesterday said the domestic cement demand is expected to surge to 25,000tpd by next year due to large projects coming up in the country. Brazilian industrial conglomerate Votorantim Group was warned Wednesday by the country’s antitrust council, known as Cade, that its interests in Brazil’s cement sector may be rising to unacceptable levels, Estado news agency said. Vietnam cement sales in July fell 17.7 per cent to 3.72 Mt, a Ministry of Construction report said. Cement sales in the first seven months were nearly 28Mt, 55.8 per cent of the whole year’s plan. Shayona Cement to expand factory, Malawi

Shayona Cement Corporation has announced plans to expand its factory in Kasungu in central Malawi with the installation of a rotary plant. Study of resources, the commissioning of the plant and production is expected to finish within 24 months, according to Shayona Cement managing director Jitendra Kumar Patel.
