Nizhny Novgorod Cement Group plans new Russia plant?

Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Cement Group is expected to build a US$300m cement plant in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, a spokesperson for the regional government told PRIME-TASS Monday. 
The company is expected to build the plant in the region’s Pervomaisky district. The launch of the plant is scheduled for the first half of 2014.

The Chinese government has ordered more than 2000 cement, steel and dyeing factories to close down outdated manufacturing units in a large-scale effort to reduce the country’s energy inefficiencies, officials said on Monday.

Union Cement Company posted a net loss of AED9.8 million against an AED90 million profit for the same period last year in a familiar result for UAE manufacturers squeezed by declining sales and prices. Ohorongo eyes Americas markets

Ohorongo Cement is eyeing international markets, as the commissioning date for its plant in Nambia nears. 

To facilitate the export of cement to the Americas, local press have reported the company is now setting up a new facility at Walvis Bay port, as well as transshipment facilities.

The Russian government’s sub-commission for customs tariffs has approved a draft government ruling to cancel duties on Russia’s cement exports, the government’s press service said Thursday. The measure is expected to make Russian cement suppliers more competitive on the global markets amid falling domestic demand for cement, the press service said. The current duty amounts to 6.5%.
