ACC second quarter net profit drops, India23 July 2010, Published under Cement NewsACC Ltd Thursday said second quarter consolidated net profit dropped 26% as sales fell and raw material costs rose. Net profit for the quarter ended June 30 declined to INR3.49 billion from INR4.71bn a year earlier. Sales fell less than a percent to INR21.67 billion from INR21.88 billion. Raw material costs rose 29% to INR3.75 billion during the quarter. Brazil 1H sales up 14.6% YoY23 July 2010, Published under Cement NewsPreliminary results released by the Brazilian industry and market estimates indicate that cement sales in Brazil for the last 12 months (July 2009-June 2010) amounted to 55Mt – representing a YoY increase of 7.4 per cent (July 08-June 09). During the Jan-June 2010 period sales reached 27.6Mt, translating into a 14.6% YoY rise. For the month of June sales stood at 4.7Mt, an expansion of 10.2 per cent on June 2009. Nigeria to export cement to ECOWAS countries by 201122 July 2010, Published under Cement NewsThe Managing Director of Dangote Group, Mr Knut Ulvmoe, said Nigeria would soon starting exporting cement to countries in the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS).
