Attock Cement decides against acquiring Al-Abbas Cement

Attock Cement on Tuesday dropped its deal to acquire Al-Abbas Cement after exercising due diligence and plans to communicate its latest decision to the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE). “Due diligence of acquiring Al-Abbas Cement ended with the idea being scrapped,” CEO of Attock Cement Babar Bashir Nawaz told to media. Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas SA (FCC) said Thursday its first-half net profit rose close to 6% on the year, as waste management services continued to offset pressure from weak construction operations. A new manager has taken over at Hanson Cement’s plant in Padeswood, UK. Stewart Jones, 46, succeeds Mark Cox, plant manager for the past four years, who has been promoted to operations services manager for the UK, based at Ketton cement works in Lincolnshire. Mr Jones moves from Ketton where he was assistant plant manager. Prior to that he worked for Hanson subsidiary Civil & Marine for 16 years in various roles.

Preliminary work on a possible new wharf and storage area for cement exports out of Timaru is under way at PrimePort.
