TCL contributes to Haiti relief efforts

Employees of the TCL Group recently contributed TT$62,666.87 towards the Group’s Haiti Relief Programme. The monetary donations from employees of Trinidad Cement Limited, TCL Guyana Inc and the TCL Group Corporate Office were presented to Habitat for Humanity to assist in that organisation’s rebuilding of earthquake devastated Haiti. 

In the aftermath of the January 12 earthquake in Haiti, Habitat for Humanity has been working to meet the needs of Haitians left homeless by this disaster....

The Meghalaya government has decided to revamp its cement plant Mawmlu Cherra Cement Limited (MCCL) at Cherrapunjee (Sohra), which is facing stiff competition from private-owned plants. Pakistan cement prices have jumped steeply from Rs 250 per bag to Rs 305 per bag in recent days - registering an increase of Rs 55 per bag, cement analysts said. Egypt’s Industrial Development Authority said it will announce early next month what it will do with two cement licences which it has withdrawn because of start-up delays and financing shortfalls. JK Cement in talks to setup Middle East plant

JK Cement has initiated talks with a few banks to raise debt of over Rs 800 crore to part finance setting up its first overseas plant in the Middle East, said a person close to the matter.

ASEC to build new Egypt cement plant

Asec for Manufacturing and Industrial Projects, a unit of Asec Holding, said it has signed a US$130m contract to build a cement plant for Building Materials Industry Company in southern Egypt. Asec for Manufacturing, also known as Aresco, will provide all the civil, electrical and mechanical works for the 1.5Mta facility in the governorate of Assiut, the company said in an emailed statement.
