Anhui Conch Cement said that it will pay cash dividends of CNY0.35/ share held, according to a company announcement. In addition, the company will distribute stock dividends of one share for every share held. The ex-dividend and ex-rights dates are June 21. Vietnam: Cement consumption falls as building slows

Vietnam consumed 19.67Mt of cement in the first five months of the year, 39 per cent of the annual target, according to the Ministry of Construction. In May, the volume reached 4.3Mt, a decrease of 14.2 per cent compared to the previous month.

 The ministry explained that rising steel prices were to blame for the drop in construction work. 

According to the ministry, the country’s demand for cement is estimated at about 50Mt in 2010, an increase of 11 per cent over 2009. - VNS

Al Baha Cement Co established, Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s Al Baha Chamber of Commerce and Industry Al Baha Chamber of Commerce and Industry is planning to set up a cement company at an expenditure of SAR1.2bn (US$320m).   The new firm will be named Al Baha Cement Co. Abdullah Musaed Al Mo’jab, the chamber’s chairman has announced that half of the founding capital of the cement company will be offered to the inhabitants of Al Baha region.

Taiwan Cement expects China plant turnaround in 2Q

Taiwan Cement Corp, which has plants based in China’s Guandong and Guangxi provinces, recently predicted profitability in the second quarter of this year. 

 Despite a shipment decrease of 200,000t in the above-mentioned plants in May from the previous month, Taiwan Cement has raised selling prices by 20%.

ADB awaits government’s sanction for Garadagh loan

The Asian Development Bank (ADB), that approved a EUR20m loan to help Garadagh Cement in Azerbaijan to expand output and improve fuel efficiency, still cannot carry out financing.   The Baku-based ADB representative office informs that signing of the loan agreement and physical allocation of finances depend on Azerbaijani government.   “This financing can be conducted only after the government makes an official notification of lack of any objections for this operation,” the ADB office said. ...

India’s ACC May cement shipments fall 4%

India’s No. 2 cement producer ACC Ltd said on Wednesday shipments in May fell four per cent from a year earlier to 1.75Mt.   The company, in which Holcim holds more than 46 per cent, said production in May was at 1.81Mt, unchanged from the year-ago period.
