FyM to invest EUR2.5m in Malaga export hub

Financiera y Minera (FyM) will invest EUR2.5m in a 4900m 2 site in the Port of Malaga to be used as a clinker and cement export hub. It intends to use pier 7 to ship clinker. Conditions for a public tender were also approved to award the occupation and exploitation of two vertical silos on piers six and seven, destined for the reception, storage and distribution of liquid bulks.

The Pakistan cement sector posted a double-digit decline of 10.7 per cent in the month of January compared with corresponding month last year, raising alarm bells among producers with a large production capacity, reports the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA). Tasman Sea to complete clinker offloading at Suva

Bulk carrier Tasman Sea is expected to complete the offloading of 11,880t of clinker at Suva Port, Fiji, today, according to the Fiji Sun. The clinker has been exported from Japan, which became a clinker importer into Fiji a year ago. The ship finished discharging 15,000t of clinker for the Tengy Cement Factory in Lautoka last week. The plant receives a clinker shipment every quarter.

Clinker damaged on route to Meghnaghat plant

The MV Haji Abdul Jalil, a vessel carrying 850t of clinker, has anchored near Chandpur Launch Terminal after a crack developed on its keel on the Meghna river. Most of the cement clinker has been damaged, reports Mohammad Asad who is in charge of the vessel. The MV Haji Abdul Jalil had to anchor near the terminal on its journey from Holudiya in India. The ship was originally heading for Narayanganj and LafargeHolcim Cement's Meghnaghat plant.

Kazakhstan becomes net exporter of cement

Kazakhstan became a net exporter of cement in 2018. During 9M18, domestic cement producers exported more than 1.4Mt of cement with a total value of US$71.5m, almost doubling the export volume of 2017.
