Carib Cement receives cheque from government for Venezuela exports

The government of Jamaica has given Carib Cement Co a cheque worth US$1.69m as part payment for the provision of clinker to Venezuela under the Trade Compensation Mechanism of the PetroCaribe Agreement. The initiative will see Jamaica supply Venezuela with some 100,000t of clinker valued at approximately US$8.5m. Unye Cimento to open Romanian branch

Turkish cement producer Unye Cimento Sanayi ve Ticaret is to open a branch for the import, export and sale of bulk and bagged cement in Romania’s Black Sea town of Mangalia, the company said. The branch will take over the operations of the company’s Romanian unit Unye Cem SRL, Unye Cimento said in a bourse filing on Tuesday, without providing further details.

Cemex to export 100,000t white cement from Sagunto

Mexico-based cement producer Cemex anticipates it will export 100,000t of white cement through the port of Sagunto, Spain. Pakistani cement exports to India down 11%

Pakistan’s cement exports to India posted a fall of 11 per cent during Jul-Nov of this fiscal year compared to the same period last fiscal year, according to the Pakistani Business Recorder. Industry sources said non-tariff barriers are hampering cement export to India, which fell from 183,400t to 163,500t over the five months.  Pakistan’s overall cement exports fell by three per cent to 3.5Mt. Currently, the country’s cement producers export around 25 per cent of total production.

Cement exports rise for Vietnam producers

The government of Jamaica is close to concluding a supply contract with Venezuela to use cement exports to meet some debt repayment obligations under the PetroCaribe agreement.
