Nigeria’s Dangote Cement’s subsidiary in Côte d’Ivoire plans to use the Sea Invest platform in Abidjan to import 1Mta of cement into the country. An indefinite strike by Pakistan’s Goods Transporters Alliance (UGTA), now in its 10th day, is impacting the delivery of cement exports as well as raw material supplies. Export consignments from cement factories to the Karachi and Muhammabd Bin Qasim ports in the Sindh Province have been disrupted due to the non-availability of trucks. A detailed analysis by Fiji's Commerce Commission following a cement price submission from Fiji Industries Ltd (FIL) has resulted in a price increase for the building product. Significant rise in Saudi Arabia clinker imports

Saudi cement companies have reported a significant rise in clinker imports over the first three quarters of the year while cement exports decline. Clinker imports totalled 1,925,000t during 9M13 compared to 399,000t in the same period of last year, an increase of 382.4 per cent, according to a report, prepared by Al-Eqtisadiah daily. Pakistan's cement exports increased 5.72 per cent during the first two months of current FY13-14, totalling US$96.796m, against the same period of last year when exports were US$91.557m. On a MoM basis,  cement exports also increased by 1.24 per cent, but decreased by 12.03 per cent in August 2013 when compared with the exports in August 2012 and July 2013.
