Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa President Director, Christian Kartawijaya, has predicted that cement consumption in Indonesia could grow by 3-5 per cent in 2016, having grown by 3.4 per cent in 2015. Indonesia: cement sales up 5% in 1Q16

Indonesia's domestic cement sales rose to 14.43Mt in 1Q16, up five per cent from the same period last year of 13.84Mt. The rise appears to be driven partly by the development of government infrastructure projects, power plants and smelter projects. The Head of Indonesia Cement Association (ASI), Widodo Santoso, was quoted by Investor Daily as saying that the rise of cement sales was as expected by ASI. “We hope the sales will increase in the coming months.”

Holcim Indonesia expects capacity up 12% in 2016

Indonesian cement producers are on track to achieve the lower-end of the Indonesian Cement Association's (ASI) 4-5 per cent annual growth target, with Fitch Ratings expecting a boost in demand during 2H16 due to new construction projects and more favourable economic conditions.
