In the 1Q20 Steppe Cement Ltd sold 235,896t of cement for KZT4003m (US$9.4m) compared to 266,393t in the 1Q19, a decline of 11 per cent. Cement demand in Argentina fell 46.5 per cent to 502,541t in March 2020 when compared to March 2019 when consumption reached 940,167t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Cement deliveries by APC members in Morocco fell 28.7 per cent YoY to 910,995t in March 2020 when compared with 1,278,486t in March 2019, according to market research company, IPSOS. Siam Cement is to acquire a Vietnamese packaging materials maker, Bien Hoa Packaging. The group will purchase Bien Hoa Packaging through a joint venture with top Japanese cardboard maker Rengo.
