Taiwan Cement Guangdong plant raises China price by CNY20/t

Taiwan Cement Corp  has decided to raise cement prices from its Guangdong plant in mainland China by CNY20  to CNY330/t, effective from November 5, the Economic Daily News reported.     Shipments from the plant have risen since October but demand continues to outpace supply, company vice president Edward Huang was quoted as saying.     Shipments in October from the Guangdong plant totaled 490,000t, the report said.

Chile’s top three cement producers -  Cementos Bío Bío,  Lafarge and Polpaico - all saw their bottom line drop during the first nine months of this year compared to January-September 2006, according to separate company filings with securities regulator SVS.     Bío Bío saw consolidated net profits plunge 68.4% to 14.2bn pesos (US$28.8m) during the first nine months of 2007 compared to the same period in 2006. Nexe nine-month net profit rises 9.3%

Croatian building materials producer Nexe Grupa reported on Wednesday a rise in net profit through September to 114.8 million kuna (US$22.6m), up from 105 million kuna a year earlier, with its third-quarter earnings almost unchanged.     The net profit in the third quarter was 66.2 million kuna, compared to 67.4 million in the sale period last year, the company said in a consolidated report to the Zagreb Stock Exchange.
