Cement and clinker demand in Vietnam is expected to edge up by 4-5 per cent in 2020, according to the country's Ministry of Construction (MoC). Volumes are expected to reach 101-103Mt, according to a report by Vietnam Plus. The expected range comprises 69-70Mt of domestic sales and 32-34Mt of exports. Kashmir Cements plans Jammu and Kashmir plant

Kashmir Cements is planning a 0.4Mta greenfield cement plant in Bhatayan village, in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The project is to be located on 9.6 acres of land. The cement company is awaiting environmental clearance with work scheduled to begin in September 2020. The date for plant start-up is set for December 2021.

Pakistan's first-half cement production increases

Pakistan cement output increased in the first six months of the current fiscal year, according to data released by Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Latest figures for the country's large-scale manufacturing industries (LSMI) for the July-December 2019 period (1HFY19-20) shows that overall output fell by 3.35 per cent YoY. Following claims of price hikes, Malaysia’s Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry has investigated cement prices and found no price hikes at the manufacturing level. Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Ltd (PIBTL) has announced its financial results for the half-year period ended 31 December 2019, declaring earning of net profit of PKR864m (US$5.6m) against a net loss of PKR 1.46bn in the same period last year.    Its net sales during the reporting period increased by 42 per cent to PKR4.84bn from PKR3.142bn during the same period last year. Russian cement production up by 7% in 2019

Russia’s cement producers increased their output by 7.4 per cent to 57.7Mt in 2019, according to Esmerk Russian News. Eurocement group was the country’s top producer with 2.1Mt, up 15 per cent YoY, while Dyckerhoff, DV-Cement and Novoroscement also increased production – by 11-13 per cent YoY. Rail shipments accounted for the largest share of 46.6 per cent of total sales, slightly down on 47.7 per cent reported in 2019. Road transport is reported to continue its growth.

Ukraine’s cement output slips in 2019

The production of cement in Ukraine decreased by 0.5 per cent in 2019 when compared to 2018 and by 4.9 per cent when compared with 2017. Cement production reached 8.89Mt in 2019. The fall was attributed to the exit of HeidelbergCement from the market as well as the introduction of antidumping duties on Russian and Belarus imports.

Vietnam cement sales expand 13% in December

Total cement sales by Vietnamese cement producers increased 13 per cent YoY and five per cent MoM to 9,573,455t in December 2019, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Domestic consumption saw a two per cent rise YoY and a nine per cent increase MoM to 5,921,910t in December 2019.
