The Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) said it has approved a new measure that will inhibit local cement firms from opening or acquiring new plants if their existing plants are running below capacity. CSN receives approval for Rio plant

Cia Siderurgica Nacional, the third-largest Brazilian steelmaker, said it got authorization from environmental regulators to build a cement plant at its main steel mill. CSN said in a statement to the Brazilian stock regulator it plans to build a cement plant in Volta Redonda, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, with capacity to produce 3Mt of cement annually.

Madras Cements Ltd is doubling the capacity of its captive power plant at its Jayanthipuram factory in Andhra Pradesh.
