Russia Partners files suits against Eurocement Group

Russia Partners has filed suits with UK and Cyprus Courts against Eurocement Group, Filaret Galchev and two Cyprus companies seeking to deprive Eurocement JSC, a joint company, in which Russia Partners holds a 44.4 per cent stake, one of its major assets - namely 38.7 per cent of Maltsevskiy portlandtsement stocks, said Russia Partners. Peru cement sales rising

The quantity of Peruvian cement sales stood at 388,013t in July 2006, according to data of the Peruvian association of cement producers Asocem, as reported on August 16, 2006. Peruvian cement exports stood at 98,746t for the month.    Peruvian cement sales rose to 2.75Mt in the period from January to July 2006, up 14.5 per cent year-on-year. Peruvian cement exports rose to 502,379t in the period, up 23 per cent.   

Iran imports more cement?

According to Al-Wefaq newspaper (August 16, 2006), a senior manager at the Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said that Iran had imported 1,320,000t of cement since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year, which started on March 21st. The official added that another 44,000t will be imported in the next few days.

Reports that Caribbean Cement is to release 17,000t of cement to the market this week has done little to comfort stakeholders who have been complaining of a critical shortage of the product. The government of Japan on Tuesday canceled outstanding debt (principal and interest) worth 1. 67 billion Nepali rupees (US$23.91m) owed by Nepal to Japan, local media reported Wednesday. A US circuit judge sided with Florida’s Center Hill residents last week, halting a new limestone mine and cement plant originally planned on rural land. Judge William H. Hallman quashed three Center Hill ordinances that  threatened the retirement haven of Monty McBryde, 63. Together, the ordinances had allowed 1235 acres to be annexed into the city. The Philippine Trade department refused clearance to a cement shipment imported from China on the grounds that the Chinese "Horse" brand failed one of the standard tests.
