Magyar Cement Preparing Lawsuit Against Holcim, Hungary02 November 2005, Published under Cement NewsHungarian cement company Magyar Cement Kft Tuesday has reportedly said it is preparing a lawsuit against Switzerland’s Holcim Ltd. Magyar has claimed Holcim acted fraudulently when acquiring a 57% stake in the Hejocsaba cement plant, which was privatized in 1994. Holcim wasn’t immediately available for comment. Last week, Holcim repudiated charges of misconduct in Hungary, saying a Hungarian court has supported the company’s role in the privatization. |

Cimpor sells Semapa stake01 November 2005, Published under Cement NewsPortuguese cement company Cimpor Cimentos De Portugal said Monday it has sold its remaining 20 per cent stake in rival Semapa for EUR144m. Cimpor said it sold the 23.7 million shares in an over-the-counter deal at a price of EUR6.07 a share. The company didn’t identify the buyer, or buyers, of the Semapa stake, but earlier, on Monday, Credit Suisse First Boston Corp said it would issue a convertible bond based on Semapa shares it had bought from Cimpor.
