Afghan cement factory renovation

Morocco cement firms invest to match demand

Moroccan cement producers are spending nearly US$1.0bn by 2008 to increase output and productivity to meet higher demand and fend off competition from cheaper imports, analysts said on Tuesday.   The industry, which has annual turnover of US$800m, expects demand to keep up the growth of the past four years. China Zhejiang cement prices

The average cement retail price in Zhejiang province, eastern China, in March 2005 was 30 per cent lower compared with January 2004, the Zhejiang Price Supervision Department said.  The average price of the benchmark 42.5 grade cement was 322.2 Chinese yuan (US$38.9) per tonne in March 2005, down 29.2 per cent from January 2004. The falling price is the result of the higher growth in China’s cement production capacity compared with growth in demand.

JK Cement, India, plans to set up a one million tonne grey cement plant in Karnataka. Holcim confirms new plant in Morocco

Swiss cement group Holcim’s Moroccan subsidiary on Monday announced a partnership with a local private group to build a US$290.6m cement plant that will produce 1.7Mt a year.  The new plant will enable Holcim Maroc to increase its 22 percent share of Morocco’s US$800m annual cement sales market. India’s cement shipments rise

Associated Cement Companies Ltd, India’s second-largest cement producer, shipped 1.57Mt of cement in March, up six per cent from 1.48Mt in the same month last year, it said on Monday.    Meanwhile Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd, India’s No. 3 cement maker, said on Monday cement shipments in March rose nine per cent on year to 1.356Mt from 1.244Mt a year earlier.   

India Aditya Birla FY 05 Cement Sales

The Aditya Birla group, which controls Grasim Industries Ltd and UltraTech Cement Co, said its cement sales for the fiscal year ended March 2005, rose 5.44 per cent to 26.26Mt. The group said Grasim - India’s largest cement company by capacity - posted sales of 1.25Mt in March 2005. UltraTech Cement’s March sales totaled 1.32Mt The group’s cement production in fiscal 2004-2005 rose 5.6 per cent on year to 26.27Mt, the statement said.
