After having posted a negative result in 2003, the Brazilian cement products’ sector  good results in 2004. According to data released by the Brazilian Cement Products Manufacturers Union (Sinaprocim) this Thursday, the sector’s companies ended 2004 with a R$ 4.533 bn revenue, up 3.07% compared to 2003.  As a response to country’s economic rebound, the whole civil construction sector grew 5.7% last year against 2003. Titan Cement Company SA, Greece said on Thursday that group operating EBITDA for full-year 2004 grew by 9.3 per cent to Euro323 million from a year earlier,with group net profit after minorities and taxes totalling Euro169 million, up 35%. Orascom Construction Industries announced that United Cement Company of Nigeria Ltd. (UNICEM) will construct a new greenfield cement plant with an annual production capapcity of 2.5Mt in Nigeria. China Resources Cement Holdings Ltd plans to invest 500 million yuan to double production capacity at its cement plant in China’s southern province of Guangxi, a source close to the deal said on Thursday.  The investment will boost China Resources Cement’s stake in the Guangxi plant to about 91 per cent from 73.5 percent, the source said.
