Cementos del Valle Posts US$41.3m net profit, Colombia

Colombian cement maker Cementos del Valle posted a net profit of 95.991 bln Colombian pesos (US$41.3m) for 2004, up seven per cent YoY. The profit increase was a result of the higher construction sector activity in 2004, the company explained. The sales of the cement company totalled US$85.32m. Cementos Molins posts EUR 83.1m profit, Spain

Spanish cement maker Cementos Molins posted a net attributable profit of EUR83.1m  for 2004, a 7.6 per cent YoY decrease, the company said. The decrease was attributed to the lack of one-time gains, compared to a EUR10m extraordinary revenue in 2003, as well as to the depreciation of Latin American currencies.  Cement sales of the company increased by 14 per cent to 5.4Mt, concrete sales stood at 3.7Mt, an eight per cent increase, and sales of aggregates remained unchanged YoY at 8Mt.

In 2004 the Mykolaivtsement company (Mykolaiv, Lviv region), increased cement output by 38.95 per cent. Andrii Postolovskyi, company’s marketing director, told local reporters. More expansion in Vietnam

Eight cement plants included in 20 cement expansion projects will be put into operation in 2007, according to the Vietnam Cement Corporation. These factories will raise the cement industry’s capacity to 38Mt of cement per year. Chinese to open cement factory in Madagascar
