HeidelbergCement to take over Teutonia

HeidelbergCement has agreed to buy a stake in Teutonia Zementwerk and is offering to buy all outstanding shares, HeidelbergCement said on Friday. To study the inside of cement structures as they solidify and age, a researcher from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania has turned to time domain reflectrometry. ASEC posts $288,000 net profit Jan-Sept 2004, Egypt

Egypt’s ASEC Cement Co, part of the Egyptian-Swiss industrial group Arab Swiss Engineering Company (ASEC), reported a net profit of 1.79 mln Egyptian pounds (US$288,000) for the first nine months of 2004, compared to a net loss of E£44.77m in the same period of 2003.  The company registered sales of E£631.1m (US$101.5m), while the cost of goods sold reached E£423.6m (US$68.1m). Gross profit totalled E£207.5m (US$33.4m) with a gross profit margin of 32.9 per cent.

Bacnotan Consolidated Industries Inc said its board  of directors has approved the purchase of additional shares in majority-owned  unit Atlas Cement Corp.        In a disclosure to the stock exchange, Bacnotan said it will purchase a  total of 36.85 per cent stake in Atlas Cement Corp for approximately PHP260m. Argentina’s domestic cement sales, including imports, rose to 573,706t, up 3.4 per cent month-on-month in November 2004, and 23.2 per cent YoY, the national association of Portland cement producers said. Prime Minister requests Vietnam Cement Corp become holding company

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung has officially required the State-run Vietnam Cement Corporation to turn into a holding company, and compile a roadmap to privatize its affiliated companies to submit to the Prime Minister for approval.       The Ministry of Finance has been assigned to coordinate with the corporation and related agencies to revise the finance status of Hoang Mai Cement Co. and Tam Diep Cement Co. so that these two companies can be privatized under the roadmap.  ...

YTL Cement net profit to double on Perak stake rise, Malaysia

Malaysia’s YTL Cement expects its net profit to double this fiscal year after it raised its stake in Perak Hanjoong Simen Sdn Bhd to 64.8% from 32.1%, YTL’s managing director said.
