UK Castle warns of cement price hikes

Castle Cement has that warned cement prices are set to rise by 10% to 15% early next year. Agreement Signed for Cement Factory

The Eastern Cement Company has signed an agreement with a number of Saudi and Yemeni businessmen to establish a large cement factory in the Yemeni city of Mukla at an estimated cost of US$200m, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The Arab Yemen Cement Company, with a capital of $100m, will supply clinker and ordinary cements to meet the region’s requirements. The factory will have a capacity of 1.2 million tons per annum.

Benue Cement Company to begin full production next month

Benue Cement Company, Nigeria is to begin full production by next month. Governor George Akume announced this recently at the University of Ibadan when he met with members of the Benue Community in the institution. He said the core investor had assured him that the intensive repair and installation of new machinery going on now at the factory would be completed by then.

Indian cement companies reported strong sales growth in September as exports surged and demand at home grew owing to the government’s infrastructure projects.  The robust numbers, which showed average growth of 14% from a year earlier, caught the market by surprise. Vietnamese production gains

Viet Nam has so far this year produced more than 18Mt of cement, a year-on-year increase of 7.3 per cent. In September alone, cement plants turned out over 2Mt, meeting the domestic demand. The Viet Nam Cement Corporation (VNCC) shipped 2Mt of cement to southern provinces to stabilise local cement prices, which are forecast to remain stable from now to the year end. VNCC also announced that its affiliates will produce high-quality cement, PCB 40, beginning this month.

TPIPL to call meeting with creditors
