From Jan until September 2004 Nevyanskiy Tsementnik produced 836,000t of cement, an increase of 22 per cent from the figure posted in the same period 2003. Packed products output was more than 129,000 tons, 31 per cent up from 2003, the press service of Eurocement reported .

UAE cement maker Gulf Cement Company, based in the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah, is expected to sign on October 12, 2004 an agreement for the delivery of a new clinker production line, estimated at some $100m. The cement shortage in Lampung and Banten provinces, Indonesia, triggered by mechanical problems at the PT Semen Baturaja cement factory in South Sumatra, has propelled the price of the commodity upward (reports The Jakarta Post). Turkish building materials producer Konya Cimento has exported about 90,000t of cement to Iraq since March 2004. Iraq is a new market for Konya Cimento since the company has not exported to Iraq for 22 years, according to the director general Davut Ulus.
