Mexican cement company Corporación Moctezuma will launch a second, 1.3Mta cement production line in 2006 at its newly inaugurated plant in Cerritos, San Luis Potosí state, a company official said. Cimpor thinking of expanding South Africa capacity

Cimpor is studying a possible investment in increasing the production capacity at South African subsidiary NPC - Natal Portland Cement, bought in 2002, a Cimpor spokesman told Jornal de Negocios. The spokesman would not say how much Cimpor is thinking of investing but said the expansion might be carried out through expansion of existing plants, construction of new plants or the acquisition of cement works.

Consumption rises 2.67Mt in July, Indonesia

Indonesia’s cement consumption rose slightly by 1.8 per cent to 2.67Mt in July this year from the same period last year. Data at the Association of Cement producer (ASI) showed that cement exports, however, rose sharply by 29.7 per cent to 849,289t YoY in July.  Cement sales, therefore, totalled 3.49Mt in July 2004 up from 3.25Mt in the same month a year before. Spanish producers first half rise

Spanish cement maker Cementos Portland Valderrivas SA posted a net attributable profit of EUR50.9m  (US$61.5m) for the first half of 2004, a 5.1 per cent YoY decrease, the company said.  EBITDA increased slightly to EUR129.2m (US$156.2m). Colombia’s leading cement producer Argos and its affiliates are to sell the La Jagua coal mine in César department to Swiss-based Glencore International, Argos said in a filing to Colombia’s securities regulator. Krasnoyarsk Cement to put third kiln into operation, Russia

Krasnoyarsk Cement should raise RUR20-25mln to put into operation its third kiln, General Director of Topkinsky Cement Igor Khrapov said. As of now, two kilns have been put into operation, the kiln furnace is scheduled to come on stream in spring 2005, the remaining kilns will be gradually repaired, Independent News Agency said. Krasnoyarsk Cement will produce 350,000-380,000t of cement in 2004. The company produced 200,000t of cement in 2003, the agency added.  

FLS sees good demand for new kiln capacity

Turnover at FLS Industries rose by 8.7% to DKr.7767m (€1,031m) during the first half of 2004, while the EBITDA, though still modest, rose from DKr.27m (€3.6m) to DKr.362m (€48.7m).  The trading profit was a positive DKr.96m (€12.9m) compared with a DKr.353m (€47.4m) loss last time.
