Jordan Cement Factories net profit jump

Jordanian cement producer Jordan Cement Factories Company (JCFC) posted a net profit of 27 mln Jordanian dinars (US$38.2m) for 2003, up 70 per cent year-on-year, according to the company’s director general, Samir al-Bairaqtar.  The company completed in 2003 the repayment of its debts, which stood at 48 mln dinars (US$67.8m) at the end of 1998, al-Bairaqtar said. Polpaico posts US$16.4m net profit

Chile’s Cemento Polpaico posted a 9.9bn peso (US$16.4m) consolidated net profit in 2003, versus a 9.4bn peso net loss the year before, Polpaico said in a statement to the country’s securities regulator (SVS).  For the period, operating profit grew 29.5% to 15.5bn pesos and revenue edged up 1.57 per cent to 118bn pesos.  Polpaico attributed the turnaround to a narrowing of its non-operating losses due to improved results of related investments and exchange rate differences.  Cemento Polpaico, ...

Hima Cement has temporarily closed for annual maintenance. The union representing striking Hawaiian Cement workers has accepted company’s best, last and final offer. Union membership is scheduled to take a ratification vote on Friday. Domestic sales of cement in Peru grew by 5.3 per cent in February, to a total volume of 320,283t, according to the industry association, Asocem (Asociacion de Productores de Cemento). The organization is predicting that the trend will continue in March, with estimated growth of 6.6 per cent. Saudi cement producer, Saudi Cement Company (SCC), reported cement sales of 4.6Mt in 2003, up from 4.5Mt in 2002, it was reported on March 18, 2004.  SCC exported 502,000t of cement to Bahrain, compared to 406,000t in 2002 while clinker exports to Bahrain stood at 137,000t, up from 94,000t.  SCC, established in 1955, is based in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia.
