Turkish Cimsa to invest

Turkish cement producer Cimsa Cimento will invest 42.5 trln Turkish lira (US$32.3m) in clinker production at its grinding, storage and packaging plant in Kayseri, central Turkey, it was reported on March 15, 2004.  After the completion of the investment project, the plant will have an annual capacity of 540,000t of clinker. The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) says that cement manufacturers have not increased cement prices and assured that prices will not be increased in the future. Italy’s biggest cement firm, Italcementi said on Monday its consolidated net profit edged up one percent to 277 million euros in 2003 and said it saw 2004 results little changed.  Italcementi said it would pay an extraordinary dividend of 0.05 euros per share to celebrate its 140th anniversary.   Turkey produced 28.1Mt of cement in 2003, and 7.3Mt of the output was exported.  In 2002, Turkey produced 26.2Mt of cement, and exported 5.5Mt according to the Turkish Cement Producers’ Association.

Brazilian cement company Votorantim (VCP) has apparently called off talks with Portugal cement company Semapa over buying a 41 per cent stake in Semapa unit Secil, Publico reports.
