India: Shree Cement granted ToR for Karnataka plant expansion

Shree Cement has been granted terms of reference (ToR) by the Environment Ministry to expand its plant in Kalaburagi district of Karnataka. The project involves increasing clinker capacity from 2.4Mta to 4.5Mta, and cement capacity from 4Mta to 6Mta. The plans also include raising the plant’s captive power plant capacity from 44MW to 50MW and its waste heat recovery power plant from 20MW to 35MW. (Source: Economic Research India).

Vietnam 1Q exports rise 11% YoY

Vietnam exported 4.82Mt of cement and clinker worth US$168.65m in the first quarter of this year, representing 11 per cent increase YoY in volume and 6.4 per cent in value, according to the latest data of the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Pakistan nine-month sales up 7% YoY

Cement sales in Pakistan increased by seven per cent YoY in the first nine months of the current fiscal to reach 30.304Mt, latest data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) reveals. Bangladesh: Meghna Cement Mills to raise capacity

Meghna Cement Mills, part of the  Bashundhara Group, plans to increase grinding capacity at its Bangladesh-based plant with the installation of a vertical roller mill. The company, which sells its cement under the King brand, has reportedly signed a contract with FLSmidth for supply of the mill, according to a report by the Daily Star (Bangladesh). The cement producer expects that the investment will help boost its profitability by 70 per cent.
