Saudi cement sales down 20% in March

Cement sales in Saudi Arabia declined by 19.5 per cent in March, according to the monthly report issued by Yamama Cement Company (YCC) and published in local press. Cement sales totalled 4.17Mt, down from 5.85Mt in March 2016. Total production also declined by 16.2 per cent in March and reached 4.88Mt compared to 5.82Mt for the same month in 2016. The Nepal Cement Manufacturers Association has agreed to review the recent hike in domestic cement prices, The Kathmandu Post reports. According to figures released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), cement dispatches for March 2017 reached 3.9Mt, up 23 per cent YoY with the industry running at full capacity during the month, reports the Daily Times. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in January 2017 totalled about 5.4Mt, up by 2.9 per cent YoY, latest data from the USGS shows. Argentina’s cement companies dispatched 1,032,119t of cement in March 2017, surpassing the previous record of March shipments, set in 2015 when 979,452t were delivered to customers. Cement industry newcomer, Prime Cement, plans to construct a US$65m plant in Musanze District, Northern Province, Rwanda. Brazilian cement sales totalled 3.9Mt in February, down 15.3 per cent YoY, according to the latest market data published by local cement association, SNIC.
