Polish competition watchdog approves proposed Gorazdze acquisitions on condition

The Polish Competition and Consumer Protection Office (UOKiK) has approved the acquisition of Duda Kruszywa and Duda Beton by Gorazdze Cement on condition that Gorazdze sells the concrete unit in Olszowa to avoid limiting market competition. Both Duda Kruszywa, which is an aggregate producer, and Duda Beton, a producer of ready-mixed concrete, are currently owned by the Opole-based firm JD.

JK Lakshmi Cement has been granted environmental clearance to set up a 1.5Mta grinding plant in the east Indian state of Bihar. Peru’s demand falls 1.9% in September

Cement dispatches in Peru slipped 1.9 per cent in September to 0.887Mt from 0.905Mt in September 2014, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. State-owned Indonesian cement producers PT Semen Indonesia and PT Semen Kupang are planning to build a new cement factory in Kupang, in the eastern province of East Nusa Tenggara . US eight-month shipment update

Portland and blended cement shipments in the US and Puerto Rico in the first eight months of this year reached 59.12Mt, preliminary data from the US Geological Survey shows. Of the total shipments, domestic dispatches accounted for 53.21Mt and imports represented 5.9Mt, the figures reveal. August 2015 shipments reached 9.080Mt, comprising 8.180Mt of domestic dispatches and 900,191t of imports. Indonesia cement sales rose by 2.8 per cent in September, latest data from the Indonesia Cement Association (ASI) shows. Sales rose to 5.79Mt last month, from 5.63Mt a year earlier.
