Brazil Jan-August sales down 6.8% YoY

Brazilian sales over the first eight months of this year fell 6.8 per cent YoY to 43.7Mt compared to the 46.9Mt sold in 2014, according to preliminary data and market estimates gathered by Brazilian cement association Sindicato Nacional da Indústria de Cimento (SNIC). In August 2015 alone, sales totalled 5.6Mt, down 10.4 per cent YoY. The Indonesian Cement Association (ASI), is confident that sales will rise by 4-5 per cent beginning in September until December 2015. Chinese cement producer Shangfeng Cement Co Ltd announced Tuesday to raise no more than CNY1.5bn (US$235.78m) via private placement for overseas expansion. Dangote Cement is set to commission its new 3Mta cement plant located in Mtwara District of Tanzania on 10 October 2015.
