Vicem Hoang Mai Cement JSC has announced plans to build a cement factory at an estimated cost of VND10.8trn (US$480m) in the central Vietnam province of Nghe An. The Hoang Mai Cement 2 factory will be constructed in the 2016-20 period in two phases, providing more than 2Mta of cement after the completion of each phase. The plant will serve the central region as well as export markets.

Pakistan: August export volumes and revenue down YoY

Pakistan exported 558,049t of cement on revenues of US$32.08m in August 2015, down 42.88 and 44.36 per cent in terms of volume and revenue on a YoY basis, according to the country's Bureau of of Statistics. Saudi Arabia: Qassim Cement sees 6% rise in 3Q profit

Saudi-based producer Qassim Cement reported a six per cent rise in third-quarter profit to SAR115m (US$30.7m), versus SAR109m in the same quarter of last year, according to a bourse filling. For the first nine months of this year, net profit reached SAR445m, up four per cent from the SAR429m recorded in the the corresponding period of 2014. The rise in profit is attributed higher sales both in terms of volume and revenue.

Vietnam may fall short of full-year export target

Vietnam’s cement sector is unlikely to fulfill this year’s export target of over 20Mt of cement and clinker, the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA) said. Total cement industry dispatches in the month of September 2015 have decreased by eight per cent YoY, dragged down by a steep fall in exports, according to provisional cement sales figures.
