Rwanda prime minister Anastase Murekez on Tuesday inaugurated Cimerwa’s new dry-process line which boosts capacity at the plant from 0.1Mta to 0.6Mta. Ethiopia-based Messebo Cement Factory Plc has hired state-owned consultant Industrial Projects Service (IPS) to conduct an assessment of the Addis Ababa market with a view to opening a new grinding plant in the region. Chinese company signs MoU for Pakistan plant

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Punjab government and Chinese cement company Yantai Baoqiao Jinhong for the establishment of a cement plant, according to reports by the Business Recorder (Pakistan). US first-half shipment update - preliminary data

Shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico over the first half of 2015 totalled around 40.78Mt, preliminary data from the US Geological Survey shows. Of the total, imports accounted for 4.07Mt. In June alone, shipments reached 8.935Mt, including 930,581t of imports. Meanwhile, clinker production over the six month period totalled 35.3Mt, with output in June reported to be just over 7Mt.

Fletcher Building to sell Rocla Quarry Products business to Hanson

Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co said Monday it will spend JPY2.6bn (US$21m) to expand facilities at its plant in the city of Susaki, Kochi Prefecture, western Japan, according to local press reports. Peru: cement sales decline 5.2% in July

Peru’s cement market contracted 5.2 per cent in July, according to Asocem, the country’s cement producers’ organisation. Deliveries fell from 846,000t in July 2013 to 802,000t in 2014. Total dispatches, which includes exports, decreased by 5.5 per cent YoY from 870,000t to 822,000t over the same period. Vietnam monthly sales up by a quarter

Vietnam cement and clinker sales reached 6.5Mt in July, up 25 per cent YoY, the country's Association for Building Materials under the Ministry of Construction (MoC) announced. Of the total volume, 5.15Mt were sold at the domestic market, up 22 per cent YoY, while 1.35Mt (+37 per cent YoY).
