Cemex has taken delivery of a fleet of new cement mixers after a ground-breaking deal with a leading vehicle solutions firm. The company ordered 11 of the specialist 26t vehicles as part of a GBP1.2m agreement with Motiva Group. Indonesian cement demand growth is expected to slow in 2014 but sales are anticipated to rebound next year as new projects get underway. For full-year 2014 the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) expects sales to rise by four per cent, down from the 5.8 per cent achieved last year. Saudi: City Cement starts trail operations of Line 2

City Cement Company has started trial operations of a second production line, the Saudi-based producer said in a bourse filing. The company said the new production line will have a capacity of 5500tpd. The trial period will last about four months. Last week City Cement announced it intends to invest SAR25m (US$6.7m) in an alternative energy project, to be carried out by Chinese engineering company Sinoma and be completed by the end of 1H15.

UltraTech re-evaluating Brazil asset bid

Indian cement major UltraTech Cement is reportedly re-evaluating its decision to bid for the Brazilian assets put on the block by Holcim and Lafarge ahead of their planned merger. Vietnam: Vicem monthly sales up 3.5%

State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) said it sold 1.92Mt of cement and clinker last month, an increase of 3.5 per cent from a year ago. Of the volume, 1.64Mt of cement and clinker were sold in domestic market, up 1.9 per cent YoY, and 283,000t were exported, rising 14.1 per cent. Lafarge Africa has offered to buy out minority shareholders in Ashaka Cement Plc. Adelaide Brighton announced that it has extended a supply agreement to a major cement customer in South Australia. The current agreement which expires at the end of December 2014, has been extended on similar terms until theend of December 2015.
