Khutul Cement and Lime's newly-expanded cement plant has been officially inaugurated in the presence of Norovyn Altankhuyag, Prime Minister of Mongolia. Brazilian monthly cement sales rise 4.9% YoY

Brazilian cement sales in April 2014 climbed by 4.9 per cent YoY to 5.9Mt, preliminary data and market estimates gathered by Sindicato Nacional da Industria do Cimento (SNIC) reveal. During January - April 2014, sales totalled 22.8Mt, a 3.3 per cent rise compared to the first four months of last year. Accumulated cement sales for the 12 months between May 2013 - April 2014 reached 70.7Mt, expanding by three per cent compared to the same period of the previous year (May 2012 - April 2013).

Apo energy deal gets government approval

The ancillary services procurement agreement (ASPA) between the National Grid Corp of the Philippines (NGCP) and Apo Cement Corp (ACC) has been approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). Olusegun Aganga, Minister of Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, has given final approval for a new national cement standard, which will be mandatory for both domestically produced cement and imports. Bolivia’s president, Evo Morales has kick-started construction of Empresa Pública Cementos de Bolivia's (Ecebol) new 1.3Mta cement works in  Jeruyo, Caracollo in the country’s Oruro department. US cement demand growth continues in 2014

Although recent economic indicators point to a tempering of the US economy, PCA is maintaining its forecast for steady growth in construction and cement consumption during the next five years. Spanish cement association Oficemen has revealed that domestic cement demand fell by 5.6 per cent in April to 858,920t when compared with the same period last year. In the first quarter, consumption reached 3,260,547t, representing a 3.4 per cent YoY decline.

Cement sales by Vietnamese cement producers in the first four months of the year totalled 21Mt, up 20 per cent from a year ago and fulfilling 34 per cent of the 2014 target, according to data from the country’s Ministry of Construction (MoC).
