Domestic cement dispatches in Vietnam slipped one per cent MoM and four per cent YoY to 5.590Mt in June 2022, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Peru's cement market expands 4% in June

Cement consumption in Peru increased four per cent to 1.126Mt in June 2022 from 1.08Mt in June 2021, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. Of this total, 1.067Mt was dispatched by Asocem members – representing a slight increase when compared with 1Mt in June 2021. Cement production from Asocem members advanced seven per cent YoY to 1.079Mt in June 2022 from 1.007Mt in June 2021. Sales of cement in Brazil saw a five per cent drop to 5.184Mt in June 2022 when compared with June 2021, according to the latest data by the Brazilian cement association, SNIC. The association attributes the drop to the uncertainty surrounding the Russia-Ukraine war impacting energy supplies. The price of petcoke increased 73.5 per cent in the last 12 months. Puerto Rican cement sales up 4% in June

In June 1.35m bags of 42.6kg,or 57,561t, were sold in Puerto Rico. This represents a 3.7 per cent increase when compared with June 2021, according to the country’s Institute of Statistics – the first increase in 13 months. When compared with June 2019, sales were up 19.6 per cent. Cement production advanced 31.5 per cent YoY in June to 860,000 bags, or 36,668t – the third consecutive increase.

Chilean cement market contracts 7% in May

Chile’s cement demand declined 6.7 per cent in May 2022 to 330,114t from 353,704t in May 2021, according to the Chilean construction chamber, CChC. When compared with April 2022, the decrease was around 5.4 per cent from 313,101t. In the first five months of 2022 total cement consumption dropped 6.4 per cent YoY to 1,675,216t from 1,789,995t in the January-May 2021 period.

Holcim has acquired General Beton Romania, a leading player in the Romanian ready-mix concrete (RMC) market with estimated 2022 net sales of EUR45m.
