Government to lobby Caricom for reduction in import duties

The government of Trinidad and Tobago says it plans to lobby the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) grouping for a reduction in import duties following Trinidad Cement Ltd’s (TCL) recently-announced 9.5 per cent price hike. Argentina’s 2012 cement shipments fall 7.8% YoY

Total shipments (domestic and exports) from Argentine cement producers fell 7.8 per cent YoY, according to the latest update from the Asociacion de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland (AFCP). For the 12 months to December 2012, total shipments reached 10.69Mt compared to 11.6Mt achieved in 2011. INC suspends clinker production but assures supply continues, Paraguay

Paraguay’s Industria Nacional de Cemento (INC) announced it will suspend clinker production for 45 days but assured the market it will not reduce supply during the programmed stop. UBS lifted its target price for China Resources Cement (01313) to HK$5.5 from HK$5.05, but downgraded the stock to "neutral" from "buy".
