Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corp (TA Oil) has acquired the stake of partner Holcim Philippines Inc in a power plant in Bulacan province. In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, TA Oil said that it "signed a share purchase agreement for the purchase by Trans-Asia of Holcim's 50 per cent stake in Trans-Asia Power Generation Corporation." Pakistan export volumes fall, rise in value terms

During the first five months of the current fiscal (FY12-13) Pakistan exported 3.612Mt of cement and earned US$245.48m compared to 3.624Mt at US$192.31m in the corresponding period of last year. Indonesian cement consumption is expected to rise between 10-12 per cent in 2013, driven by developments in the property and infrastructure sector, according to estimates by the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI). Iran produced 53.16Mt in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (beginning 20 March 2012), representing a 5.85 per cent increase on the 51.65Mt produced in the same period of last year. Algerian Jan-Nov12 imports increase 92%

The first 11 months of 2012 saw Algeria increase its cement imports by 91.95 per cent, according to Algerian customs figures. In terms of value, imports rose from US$117.4m to US$225.4m while in terms of volumes, the advance reached 96.61 per cent from 1.267Mt to 2.492Mt. The high demand for the product, particularly in the dry season from March to August, has been the main cause of this import hike. The country currently has a cement deficit of over 2.5Mta.

Cement major to set up third unit in West Bengal

Angola: Kwanza-Sul cement factory to start production in 2013

Fábrica de Cimento do Kwanza Sul (FCKS) will start production in November 2013. The factory, which is located at Sumbe in Kwanza-Sul province, Angola, will produce 4500tpd cement when fully operational. Construction of the US$600m plant is being carried out by ETA Star from Dubai, UAE, while equipment has been supplied by FLSmidth, Denmark. FLSmidth will also operate the plant under an operation and maintenance contract.
