China produced 398.1Mt of cement in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 7.3% YoY, according to the latest data released by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

Angola’s Cimentfort enters service in May

Angola will see a new cement plant enter service in May. The Cimentfort works in Catumbela is expected to produce around 0.7Mt by year-end, according to a report by press agency Angop. Located near a railway line, the production facility is also ideally placed to supply cement to the southern provinces via the Benguela Railway. The provinces of Huambo, Bie and Kuando Kubango will be among the first to benefit from the new plant’s output.

Saudi Arabia: cement sales hit new record

Cement sales in March 2012 grew by 12.6% to reach 4.9Mt, a record high for monthly sales, based on a new report issued by NCB Capital on Wednesday. According to the report, clinker production grew by 10% to reach 4Mt, another record. However, clinker stocks declined sharply by 44.4% to reach 5.02Mt, the lowest level since August 2008. “Domestic cement sales rose 12.6% YoY and 10.2% MoM to 4.89Mt in Mar-12. UK: Cemex teams up with SITA to produce RDF

Cemex UK has joined forces with SITA UK to produce all the refuse-derived fuel (RDF) to fire its Rugby cement kiln. SITA UK will build two recycling plants that will produce Cemex’s Climafuel brand of RDF from local residual household and business waste.
