Brazil first-quarter sales rise 13.3%

Preliminary data on the Brazilian cement market shows that for the first quarter of 2012, domestic sales climbed 13.3% YoY to 16.4Mt, according to Sindicato Nacional da Industria do Cimento (SNIC). Accumulated sales for the 12 month period between April 2011 to March 2012 reached 65.7Mt, representing an increase of 9.6 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Jaypee plans capacity hike, India

Vietnam’s cement sales stood at 9.57Mt in the first quarter of this year, meeting 17.4 per cent of the whole-year plan, due to the implementation of several projects in March that lead to the strong demand, the Ministry of Construction said.
